The Tatras in spring and summer
The best time to visit the Tatras is from April to June and August to October. The best months for walking are June, July and August, as the temperature ranges from 10-20 degrees Celsius. The best months for skiing are February, March and December due to the thickness of snow.
The weather during this time is generally good and is usually warm (summer), or rainy (spring and autumn). However, there is a greater chance of fog and mist during the spring and autumn seasons.

There are two options – by train or by car. If you choose to travel by train, the journey from Krakow to Zakopane will take about 2 hours 20 minutes. If you choose to travel by car, the journey will take about 2 hours 30 minutes.
